Inside Our Riad Palmier

We rented 2 rooms in a Riad, which is a former family residence converted into something like a bed-and-breakfast. Most of the many Riads within the Medina are owned and operated by Europeans, mainly French. The personel are locals. Our Riad was located within the Jewish center of the old town and that was quite a perfect location to scout out the city.

Marrakesh, "The Red City

Ahhh, Marrakech!! The city itself is the destination. It’s an experience for any Westerner to just step on to the main square, called Jamaa el-Fna.

Walking through the narrow, insanely busy streets is fascinating and intimidating at the same time. Everything moves, seeingly completely without any coordination. Donkeys, horses, stinking buses and buzzing mopeds are in a mix with thousands of pedestrians, bicylclers and Taxis.
