Marielle Gradens of Marrakesh

The Majorelle Garden is a botanical garden in Marrakech. It was designed by the expatriate French artist Jacques Majorelle in 1924, during the colonial period when Morocco was occupied by France. A special shade of bold cobalt blue which he used extensively in the garden and its buildings is named after him, Majorelle bleu.

Since 1980 the garden has been owned by Yves Saint-Laurent and Pierre Bergé.

From Marrakech to Essaouria

It is a good 4 hrs. ride with a Taxi to get from the arid desert of marrakech to the pleasant coastal climate of the fishing town of Essaouria. The main way of transport for tourists is the Grand Taxi. Up to 7 people are squeezed into a 25 year old mid size Mercedes Diesel. Quite a value for the money. The busses, which traffic regularily between the two destinations still seem to be second choice, due to the hundreds of stops they are performing to pic up additional travellers. The last thing one wants to do is to rent a car and drive on your own. The traffic is quite dense and the rules this traffic moves are for a normal Westerner not easy to grasp. So, leave the driving to the ones who are in the know.
